Chimney Sweeping

It’s important to properly care for and maintain your chimneys, woodstoves, and fireplaces in order to prevent fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.

One of the most commonly asked questions is “How often should I have my chimney/fireplace cleaned?” The national standard states you should have your chimney inspected at least once a year and at that time handle any recommended maintenance or cleaning.

One concern people mentioned when having their chimneys cleaned is a mess left behind. Pictures of movies like Mary Poppins pop in their heads. We will leave no mess behind! When we leave we take any mess with us.

Steps we take when cleaning your chimney:

  1. We lay drop cloths out in front of the fireplace to insure that your carpet doesn’t get dirty and set up an exhaust system to ensure no soot gets into your home.

  2. We sweep the inside of your fireplace starting at the firebox floor and continue to sweep the chimney to the top of the flue.

  3. We then clean, inspect and adjust the damper and damper assembly.

  4. We do a visual inspection of the outside of the chimney, checking the mortar work, brickwork and crown. Any damage or needed repair we find is documented on video or with digital photos.

  5. We will leave you a copy of our written evaluation.

  6. We recommend this service to be done yearly.
